Who leads the service?
We believe that a good funeral can be a life changing experience. Having the right people by your side to help you work out what feels right and help you to create the service will usually be a celebrant or religious leader.
A celebrant may be fully independent (of any religion or belief system), humanist, spiritualist or pagan. They will help you combine the religious, spiritual and / or secular elements that will reflect the person who has died and the wishes of the close circle of the person.
We work alongside a number of excellent celebrants, many of whom are trained through Green Fuse, who listen carefully and, with warmth and kindness, work closely with you to create the best funeral possible.
For the funeral of a person with a particular faith or religion we will support you fully in your wishes to appoint and co-ordinate with the appropriate minister at the crematorium, church, temple, hall or mosque. If you need our help finding the right person, we can easily put you in touch with a religious leader who we know well.
Do it yourself: If it feels right, it is completely possible for you or someone you know to lead the funeral service. This role requires energy and sometimes, additional support. We will do everything we can to support you, or you can appoint a celebrant to assist you with certain elements, such as how to design or structure the service.
